If you are a importer of Metallic scrap (both shredded or non unshredded) or planning to import it, then this post is for you.
The government of India has issued public notice no 46/2015-2020 date 14/01/2022 in which they have exempted the requirements of PSIC certificate for import of metallic scrap from safe countries, the countries are :
USA, UK, CANADA, NEWZEALAND, AUSTRALIA and EU.
However any kind of metallic scrap import in India are allowed only subject to a company with PSIC (pre shipment inspection certificate) from country of origin issued by the authorized agencies.
But now the PSIC is not required for imort of metal scrap from above listed safe countries to the 10 ports of India as listed below.
Chennai, Tuticorin, Kandla, Jnpt, Mumbai, Krishnapatnam, Mundra , Kattupalli, Hazira, kamarajar.
