Warehousing refers to the activity involving storage of goods on the large scale, in a systematic and orderly manner and making them available conveniently whenever required. warehousing is a part of logistics function.
Why warehousing is required?
Warehousing is required to preserve and hold the goods in large quantities, its required for the preserving seasonal products, (agricultural products) to supply at the time of their seasonal demand.
It is required to keep the large scale produced goods by big manufacturing units.
Warehousing is the key factor for supplying goods on or before expected time by seller to consumer.
Warehousing is use to keep sufficient inventory of raw materials for smooth and uninterrupted manufacturing of final products by manufacturing unit.

Types of Warehousing.
Private warehousing: Private warehouses are owned and managed by Big Manufactures and traders for their large scale products.
Public warehouse: Public warehouse is own and managed by the owner of warehouse where the space can be allotted to different companies as per their requirements and terms on contractual basis.
Bonded warehousing: Bonded warehousing is generally used in import export trade to keep the imported goods without customs duty payment and allows them to clear the goods on part basis as per the arrangements of custom duty and their requirements of goods.

What is the idle warehousing ?
Idle warehousing can be referred with the location of warehouse, use of mechanical devises for handling the goods, adequate space for storage of goods, cold storage facility for storage of perishable products, protection of goods from sunlight, rain heat, dust, wind and pets.
